  Courting couples in the JW having sex together before marriage?

  i left about 8 years ago, at the grand old age of 24, basically being an unmarried mum of 1 (baptised when my girl was 11months old) and the 'tipping point for me' when elder sisters tried to set me up for marriage to a 64year old elder, as that would be the only man willing to marry a girl such as myself.

  i ran away, i moved 300miles away.

  there should be a witness pretection programme ;).

  We were virgins on our wedding night. One thing I have heard of is an awful lot of JW couples who were virgins before marriage dealing with sexual dysfunction issues and unable to have sex after marriage. It can be hard to change all your attitudes to sex in the flick of a switch just because you have a piece of paper.

  Where do you draw the line???

  when you feel like what jws have done is wrong and you want to take a stand but on the other hand you also want your family to love you?.

  what, in the end, matters most?

  i go back and forth on this.

  Hey Cognac,

  I feel exactly the same as you. I swing between the two extremes. There are times when I hate myself for living the lie. When you're raised as a dub it's hard to get away from the idea that a person of integrity stands up for what they believe (i.e not "the truth"). On the other hand as others have said you can do more from the inside than you can on the out. Think of it as non-theocratic warfare.

  How many converts are staying 5 years +?

  just wondering because in our congregation i reckon for every 10 that have come in during the past ten years eight of those have gone out?

  lots of these people have studied and converted without family so the don't have the sword of damocles of shunning hanging over them.

  they also used their brains relatively recently so i think these are the main reasons they bounce back out.

They also used their brains relatively recently so I think these are the main reasons they bounce back out.

  Your funny stories of being a JW

  i was just thinking that maybe to lighten it up a bit and we could talk about our funny stories about being in the jw religion.

  i thought it would be fun to read.. some of my favorities:.

  running a block and a half from dogs when i was about 8.. letting all my note cards when i was giving a talk fall to the floor.. tripping over the stairs as i participated in a demonstration.. laughing out loud in a talk and not being able to stop until i went to the bathroom.. having a fit of coughing that disrupted the entire meeting.

  When I was a teenager I was on the ministry with a young brother I was close to (similar age to me), he was the P.O's son actually. We were so engrossed in conversation that when the householder came to the door we couldn't remember who's turn it was. We spent a fair few seconds arguing back and forth "it's your go"... "no it's yours!" The householder shut the door in disgust and we fell about laughing!

  Anonymously disclosing location

  i had an idea last night and thought i would see how others feel about it.. i would just love to know if there are members of jwd in my area.

  unfortunately like so many others i cannot give too much away as i am still "in" for family reasons.

  i was thinking, would it work if we created some of those maps where you can pin your location but do it anonymously (i.e not using our jwd i.d as a reference)?

  I wouldn't put my JWD ID on a map. It's just too risky. I thought this may be a safe way for faders to share location.

I was thinking, would it work if we created some of those maps where you can pin your location but do it anonymously (i.e not using our JWD i.d as a reference)? It wouldn't have to be as specific as congregation, just a region if people wanted. We could put up maps for the U.S, Britain, Australia, European countries, South Africa etc. It would be interesting to know just how many are out there and I thought this may be a convenient and safe way to go about it? Your thoughts?

  Welcome Galileo. 607 opened Pandora's box for me too. I enjoyed reading your story. I am determined my own children will have the education I missed out on. I had a couple of teachers who tried to be mentors to me in developing my potential. I missed out on a scholarship in order to remain obedient to my parents and Jehovah.
